Goodlife Pharmacy Ltd. (Goodlife), a leading East African retail pharmacy chain, announced the appointment of Justin Melvin to the newly created position of Chief Retail Officer. He will serve on the Company’s executive team and will oversee the Company’s retail operations including business development and acquisitions.
Goodlife’s Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Josh Ruxin stated, “This is the ideal time for Goodlife to bring Justin on board – today, we have grown to 35 pharmacy outlets in both Kenya and Uganda, and are well on track towards our target of establishing over 100 locations across East Africa. A Kenyan native, Justin brings over 30 years’ experience to Goodlife, including an extensive background in both the retail and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors, where he held senior executive positions in operations management, strategic planning, business development and partner relations. Prior to Goodlife, Justin served as the General Manager of Kuku Foods Ltd., the East African franchise holder of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Under Justin’s leadership, the company profitably grew its network from 4 to 13 locations countrywide. The company also gained recognition through the 2015 franchise of the year award as the Best Franchise in Africa – a first-time award outside South Africa. Earlier in his career, Justin spent time with global FMCG companies including PepsiCo and The Coca-Cola Company in multiple roles across the globe including, Nigeria, East Africa, Indian Ocean Islands, China, North Africa, Middle East, and Eastern Europe.
