Hyperacidity Or Acid Reflux

Definition

Hyperacidity is characterised by over production of digestive acids in the stomach usually causes by various reasons such as bacterial infection or other lifestyle habits like the consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drinks.

Acid reflux is the backflow of stomach contents into the oesophagus. The feeling of acid reflux is heartburn: a mild burning sensation in the mid-chest, often occurring after meals or when lying down.

Causes of Hypertension and acid reflux.

The most common causes of this condition are the following;

  • Consuming junk, sugary, salty, spicy foods often and untimely meals
  • Fasting for a prolonged duration
  • Lack of sleep and rest for the body
  • Mental stress, tension, anxiety
  • Sedentary habits with no regular physical exercise
  • Smoking
  • Excess intake of alcohol

  • Chronic disorders like obesity, diabetes, hypertension

  • Quitting smoking and increased alcohol consumption
  • Good sleeping posture at night.
  • Exercising regularly and losing surplus body fat in stances of overweight or obesity also help in relieving symptoms of acid dyspepsia.
  • Limiting the intake of caffeine, oily sugary junk foods and steering clear of a very high-carb diet.

-Prescription medication that helps reduce excess acid production in the stomach. (This will be advised by a healthcare professional)
