Description
The Iron Deficiency Test is a quick test that checks for iron deficiency and anemia using a blood sample.
Ferritin is a protein that stores iron in the body. This test detects low levels of ferritin, which can indicate iron deficiency and anemia. If the ferritin level is below 30 ng/ml, it may mean there is an iron deficiency.
Iron deficiency and anemia are common, especially in children and women who have periods. Symptoms include extreme tiredness, difficulty concentrating, headaches, pale skin, muscle and joint pain, weight gain, heart palpitations, sleep disturbances, weakness, chest pain, fast heartbeat, or shortness of breath.
Mild iron deficiency anemia usually doesn’t cause serious problems, but if left untreated, it can become severe and lead to issues like heart failure, complications during pregnancy, and delayed growth in children.

How to use
Bring the pouch to room temperature before opening it.
Open the foil pouch and remove the cassette.
Carefully remove and dispose of the cap on thelancet. Use the provided alcohol pad to clean the fingertip of the middle or ring finger as the puncturesite. Press the lancet, on the side from where the cap was extracted; down against the fingertip. The tip retracts automatically and safely after use.
Put the blood collected into the sample well of the cassette, by squeezing the
dropper bulb.
Keeping the hand pointing downwards, massage toward the end of the finger
that was pricked to obtain a blood drop.
Without squeezing the capillary dropper bulb, place it in contact with the
blood. The blood migrates into the capillary dropper to the line indicated on
the capillary dropper. You may need to massage your finger again to obtain
more blood if the line is not reached. Avoid air bubbles.
Wait for the blood to be totally dispensed in the well. Unscrew the cap of the
buffer bottle and add 1 drop of buffer into the sample well of the cassette.
Wait for the coloured line(s) to appear. Read results at 5 minutes.
Do not interpret the result after 10 minutes.
